Lift pass

- Can I refill an old lift pass?
Yes, as long as the card has a WTP number on the back and the card is an AXESS card, it can be reused. Select "Load WTP card" in the shopping cart. Read more about buying lift passes here. 

- Can I change the date if I have filled in the wrong date? 

You can, but not online. You need to contact [email protected]. Read more about buying lift passes here.  

- Can I buy a lift pass for a child 0-6 years on an existing lift pass?

These passes must be bought together with a new Axess / WTP card. You can not add 0-6 years to an existing card. 

- Can I buy a card with optional days in the season?

Yes, but these are not in the online store. These cards must be purchased in one of our lift pass sales desks.

- I have refilled my lift pass online / I have bought a new lift pass online. Do they need to be activated before I can go to lifts?

No, the cards will be activated as soon as you enter the reader in front of the lifts. 

- I bought a new lift pass online, where can I pick it up/receive it?

Use the QR code you received in the confirmation e-mail. Scan this is the pick-up boxes outside the sportshop at Skitorget on the west side, or by the ticket desk at the middle station below Gudbrandsgard Hotell. You cards will be printet and disposed from these pick up boxes.

- How do I buy a lift pass?

You can buy lift passes online. There you can buy new ones of refill old ones. When buying a new, select "New WTP card" in the drop-down menu. If you want to refill an existing card, select "Reload WTP". Fill in the WTP code you find at the back of the card. You can also scan the QR code on the back of the ski pass using the camera on your phone. We also have an app available where you can buy all types of lift tickets (not season tickets and night skiing). The app is called HafjellKvitfjell and has all the information about the resort as well as lift pass and tickets. 

- I bought a lift pass on a spesific day, but it looks like the weather will be bad. Will you refund the card if I would like to cancel it?

We give refund for unused cards only in case of illness / Covid, as long as you have a doctor's statement no later than one day before. Get in touch by email to [email protected] for such inquiries.

- We had several days skiing in Kvitfjell, but some of the chair lifts or gondola had to close due to bad weather or technical problems. Will you refund our lift passes?

This depends on how many of the chair lifts that had to close and for how long. There are separate reimbursement rules for downtime in the facility which you can read more about in our terms of sale here.

Rental and Shop

- Where can i rent ski/snowboard/telemarkequipment?

We have two skirentals in Kvitfjell one is located at Skitorget

and one at Mellomstasjon. Note that you can't drive down to the rental at Mellomstasjon during winter.

-Are there any sportshops in Kvitfjell?

Yes. There is two sportshops in Kvitfjell. At Mellomstasjon the shop is located in the same facilities as the skirental. This shop is more orientated towards hardgoods as skis and boots. Part of the shop is a bootfittinworkshop. You can also find accessories as gloves, hats, helmets, googles and so on

At Skitorget the shop is located on the same level as the slopes. Here you can find more clothes with brands like Amundsen and Svindal.

-Can we repair skis in Kvitfjell?

Yes. We have two workshops. They are located in the two rentals at each side of the mountain. 

-Do i have to order skis online?

We recommend our guests to order skis in advance. You can do this at: https://www.kvitfjell.no/skiutleie-i-kvitfjell.

Ski School

- Is there a Ski School in Kvitfjell?

Yes we have a Ski School that offers courses to all ages and levels. We offer both group- and private lessons.

- How do I book skischool?

You can book Ski School online here. Ski School is smart to book in advance to guarantee that we have space on the lessons .

- Where do I meet up fpr my lesson?

The meeting spots are at lift I on the westside and lift G at mellomstasjon.

- How do I contact the Ski School?

- Where is the ski school office?

The office is in the sports shop at skitorget.


- Do I need a lift pass to ski in the children's areas Kids Skitorget and Kids Gudbrandsgard?

You do not need a lift pass to run only the magic carpet lifts.

- How many lifts do you have in total in Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg?

We have 14 lifts. 4 chair lifts, 1 transport gondola, 2 T-bar lifts, 4 platter lifts and 3 magic carpet lifts.



- Is there a parking fee in Kvitfjell?

No. It is free to park your car in Kvitfjell.

- Do you recommend that we get there early to ensure we get a parking spot?

During holidays it could be smart to arrive early, but usually you will find a free spot. The parking spaces at the bottom of the facility has high capacity.

- Do you have charging points for electric cars?

The car can be charged at Gudbrandsgard Hotell or at Kvitfjelltunet in Fåvang where there is a fast charger system.


- How many trails are there in total in Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg?

There are a total of 34 kilometers of alpine trails in Kvitfjell. 11 green, 13 blue, 6 red and 3 black.

- We have small children who have not skied much, where should we start skiing?

We have two children's areas in Kvitfjell. Kids Skitorget is located on the West Side and Kids Gudbrandsgard is located at Mellomstasjonen. Both areas are easily accessible by car.

- When do you prepare the trails, and how often?

The trails are prepped after the lifts close. In snowy weather, it is prepped later and through the night. We ask everyone to stay away from the ski resort outside opening hours for safety reasons.

- Can we buy the trail map of the slopes? We would love to have it printed!

Terrain parks and beginner areas

- How many terrain parks do you have in Kvitfjell?

We have two terrain parks in Kvitfjell. Kvitfjellparken at Mellomstasjonen and the Kids-park on the West Side.

- How many children's areas do you have in Kvitfjell?

We have two children's areas in Kvitfjell. Kids Skitorget is located on the West Side and Kids Gudbrandsgard is located at Mellomstasjonen. Both areas are easily accessible by car.

- Are there forest trails for children?

Yes. Vardenskogen and Pudderskogen are great for children.

Toilets, showers and changing rooms

- Where are the toilets we can use in the facility?

There are toilets in the Varmestue at Mellomstasjonen and in all the restaurants.

- Is there a changing room in the facility?

Yes, at the handicap toilet at Skitorget and at Gudbrandsgard Hotell.

- Are there showers you can use in Kvitfjell?

The wellness department at Gudbrandsgard Hotell can be used (at a cost).

Opening hours of Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg

- When does Kvitfjell open?

Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg is usually one of the first resorts in norway to open. When the resort opens depends on the weather. If it is cold enough to produce snow season start 2023 is November 3rd.

- When does Kvitfjell close?

Last day of the season is April 21th.

- When does the lift open? 

The lifts open at 09:30 every day, and are open until 15:30, 16:00 or 16:30 depending on the lighting conditions throughout the season. We also have evening skiing in some lifts and trails until kl. 20:00.

- When is the World Cup?

This season's popular event, the World Cup Kvitfjell, is historic as we are hosting both the men's and women's World Cup races. The men's event is scheduled for February 17-18, followed by the women's races on March 2-3.

Travel to Kvitfjell

- Where is Kvitfjell located?

Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg is located near Fåvang in Ringebu kommune, approximatley 60 km north of Lillehammer or about 3 hours drive from Oslo.

- How to get to Kvitfjell Kvitfjell?

You can get to Kvitfjell either by car, train or bus. We have our own train stop, Kvitfjell Stasjon, and if you take the train from Oslo or Trondheim you select Kvitfjell Station as your choice and you can get of right next to the lift in the bottom of the resort. If you come here by car you take of the highway at Fåvang and follow directions to Kvitfjell from here. The bus stops at Ringebu station and from here you would need a taxi to the ski facility. 

- How far is it from Hafjell to Kvitfjell (measured to Kvitfjell Intermediate Station)?

Hafjell - Kvitfjell: 45 km, 45 min. Lillehammer - Kvitfjell: 60 km, 55 min.

- Where is Kvitfjell's train station and where do we pick up those who come by train?

Kvitfjell Station is located at the very bottom of the Olympic slope, close to the finish area. From here you can go straight to the lift that takes you to the mountain. We also have ski lockers at the train station here if you want to come for a day trip and lock your luggage here for the day.

- What does it cost to rent a cabin in Kvitfjell?

- Where does the cross country tracks start?

There are several places to start the cross-country trip in Kvitfjell:

-Mid station: by Fôr Restaurant at the bottom of trail 9
-Top: take chairlift B or C to the top and start the trip at trail 30
-West side: at the bottom station of chairlift C
-Varden: take chairlift N and start the cross-country trip by Varden Restaurant.

    Kvitfjell in general

    - How high is KvitfjellKvitfjell?

    • Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg has 853 altitude meters from top to bottom.
    • The top of Kvitfjell is 1032 meters above sea level
    • The bottom station of Kvitfjell is meters above sea level
    • Kvitfjell's middle station is 740 meters above sea level
    • The bottom station for Vestsiden (The west side) and Varden is 700 meters above sea level
    • The top of Varden is 948 meters above sea level

    - Why is Kvitfjell named Kvitfjell?

    Kvitfjell means "White mountain". Kvit is dialect for white, and fjell means mountain.

    Kvitfjell got the name from the peak Kvitfjellet that can be seen from the top of the ski resort. This peak is made of quartzite that makes it look white even in the summer when the snow has melted. Kvitfjell is pronounced "Kvitfyell".

    - When was Kvitfjell built?

    Kvitfjell was built for the Olympics in 1994, and opened in 1992.

    - Who ownes Kvitfjell? 

    The Norwegian company Alpinco ownes Kvitfjell Ski Resort. Alpinco is owned by AB Invest and DNB. Alpinco also own Hafjell Ski Resort, Gudbrandsgard Hotell and Hafjell Kvitfjell Booking.
